From the Executive Director

Dear Friends,

As we enter the fall, I’m so happy with all the Greater New York Chapter has accomplished already this year and I know there are only more good things to come!

I’m elated to announce our chapter is finally whole again! Over the past several months I have had the opportunity to interview a number of candidates and am happy to share that we have hired five new staff members who all exhibit the values and work ethic we as a Foundation pride ourselves on. Each new team member has jumped into their role with enthusiasm and look forward to working with our families and volunteers. Please take a few minutes to read more about our new employees on page 8.

For those of you who don’t know, this past June our headquarters located in Bethesda, Maryland moved to a brand new office space! With the continued growth of the CF Foundation staff it was time to increase the size of our home base in order to better serve the CF community.

This year we hosted nine Great Strides walks and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. We are currently predicting a gross income of $2.5 million by the end of the year. I can’t begin to express my gratitude to all of our committee members, team leaders, walkers, donors, sponsors, in-kind supporters, volunteers, and the chapter staff for their hard work throughout the year.

During the first week of August the entire CF Foundation gathered together for the first time in our organization’s history for an all staff conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Over 600 employees celebrated the conference theme “We Are One” as we networked, listened to Foundation and scientific updates, participated in workshops, and engaged with colleagues from across the country. The picture below showcases our team and was taken at our all staff outing at the Baltimore Orioles baseball game.

Be on the lookout for a new look and feel as our Young Professional Leadership Committee transitions to become Tomorrows Leaders, Making a Difference Today! We first learned about this program at the staff conference and look forward to rolling it out in our chapter.

Mark your calendars! Our annual Scientific Update will be held on Wednesday, September 13th from 5:45 - 8:30pm at Lowenstein Sandler LLP in Manhattan. The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by presentations by special guest speakers Dr. Albert Faro, Senior Director of Clinical Affairs, CFF, and Dr. Patricia Walker, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Mount Sinai Beth Israel. To RSVP or to learn more about the live stream, please contact Shara Swift at SSwift@cff.org.

Last but not least, I hope to see you at one of our many fall events. Between CF Climb, Cycle for Life, YPLC Cocktails for a Cure, Rose to Runway Fashion Show, and the Breath of Life Gala there is an event for everyone to attend and enjoy!
