Mr. Brewster

Imagine this… you’re a second semester senior in high school. You have AP courses to finish up, team practice five days a week, the senior class play to participate in, parents to deal with and a social life to keep up with, yet you somehow find time in your schedule to be part of a team to raise $36,770 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! That is what thirteen impressive senior boys from Brewster High School did this year for their annual Mr. Brewster Competition. This amazing event takes place at the high school that Brian McPartland, a 24 year old with CF, attended where it was created the year after he graduated. Since then, this competition has become ingrained into the community with the senior guys clamoring each year to be crowned Mr. Brewster.

This prestigious title can only be competed for if you are one of the top 10 fundraisers in the class, however, this year there were 13 competitors on stage for the first time as they each raised over $1,000, with the highest fundraiser, Brendan Feehan (who ultimately won the title) raising $6,950. The night was full of laughter as the boys performed a 7-minute dance routine and took part in a witty Q&A portion. As well, Brian McPartland attended the event this year for the first time and spoke, addressing the students who are fundraising for the disease he has. These students don’t personally know Brian but continue the legacy of giving to the CF Foundation. It was a full circle moment and you could hear a pin drop as he spoke. Overall, it was a very special and memorable evening and we look forward to seeing what they do in 2018!
