Corporate Corner

The Greater NY Chapter was thrilled to welcome a number of brand new corporate sponsors and teams at our 2017 Great Strides walks! We were also elated to have many returning supporters lace-up with us again this year!

Our Banking on a Cure campaign ushered in several “new friends” including The Westchester Bank and TD Bank - Westchester at the Westchester County walk, as well as HVFCU at our Putnam County walk. Tompkins Mahopac Bank joined us again this year as a sponsor and formed teams at both of the Putnam County and Poughkeepsie walks. We were honored to have Gerald Klein (pictured right with fellow bank employees), President and CEO of Tompkins Mahopac Bank, at our Putnam County walk.

Shields Health Solutions and Flex Seal sealed the deal, joining our efforts as new corporate sponsors of the NYC walk. We were also thrilled to welcome back Chubb, a Great Strides National Corporate Team, at Foley Square. Chubb was gracious enough to allow us to present at their Manhattan office where we spoke to employees about cystic fibrosis, the Foundation’s efforts, and the Great Strides walk program.

Thank you KPMG for being our outstanding corporate team at the NYC walk for the second year in a row! We are also giving Turner a “perfect score” for hosting their 10th annual Strike Out CF passion fundraiser where close to 400 employees came to knock some pins down all to help our mission to cure CF. Geico returned to our Nassau County walk as a sponsor and an Insure the Cure campaign supporter. We were also ecstatic to be included in Geico’s first Volunteer Day in their Long Island office location.

Team Hitachi Supports The Cause…It all began with a cold call that received a very warm welcome! With no CF connection, Hitachi America Ltd. in Tarrytown came onboard as a first time corporate team and a sponsor of the Westchester County Great Strides walk. To better acquaint their employees with cystic fibrosis, our Westchester staff was invited to speak at a lunch and learn. Erica Rice, a CF mom, joined us to share her personal story and made a tremendous impact on all the employees in attendance. Erica made such a big impact that the Hitachi team asked specifically to greet Erica and meet her family at the walk and thank her for sharing her story.

At our Westchester walk we celebrated having our first ever Corporate Recruitment Chair, Linda Kirkpatrick (pictured left with Mary Calvi from CBS 2) from Mastercard. Mastercard also generously returned this year as a Presenting Sponsor and their team The Cure...Priceless! Is currently the top fundraising team for the walk.

Lastly, a BIG shout out to Kohl’s and the Kohl’s Cares employee volunteers who generously gave their time to help our mission. From preparing Great Strides materials, to organizing mailings, to participating at not one, not two, but THREE of our chapter walks, these individuals truly rock!

Jeans Day and Lace-up Day for CF:

Did you know that companies with strict dress policies often let employees wear jeans or sneakers to the office in support of a charity? Typically employees are asked to donate $5 to the selected cause making this effort an accessible and affordable way for everyone to get involved and feel charitable!

We are so grateful to have Baker Tilly host a Lace Up day for the 2nd year in a row, raising over $2,000 in two years!

Thanks for the awareness!

We are so incredibly grateful to The Journal News for running ads for us again this year!

We are so appreciative for their continued support and for helping us raise awareness!
