In the aftermath of “Blizzard Nemo” many Long Islanders braved the cold and snow and attended Long Island’s Great Strides 2013 Kick-Off & Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, February 12th.  We were happy to see many familiar faces as well as welcome new ones.  Our guests enjoyed food prepared by Long Island’s own “Top Chef,” Fran Klier.

It was an inspiring evening, highlighted by our Team Leader guest speakers sharing their personal journeys of hope and strength.  Together, we celebrated the accomplishments of individuals, team leaders and corporate partners that led to Great Strides 2012 being such a great success.  Volunteers who played pivotal roles in Great Strides were recognized for their dedication and commitment.

What was achieved is a testament to our strength as a team.  We look forward to an even more successful Great Strides 2013 on Long Island!

On Tuesday, February 26th, the Manhattan Headquarters hosted its New York City and Staten Island Great Strides 2013 Kick-Off & Awards Ceremony at Copia NYC. Attendees enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as our Family & Friends Team Chairs shared their personal stories and gave thanks to those who helped make Great Strides 2012 such a success. The always charismatic Lonnie Quinn, Chief Weatherman for CBS-2, kept the night lighthearted with his witty quips and jokes. He distributed awards to Walkers, Team Leaders, Committee Members and Corporate Sponsors for their accomplishments for in 2012. It was a fun and inspiring evening that got everyone motivated and excited to make Great Strides 2013 an even greater success!

The Westchester Office’s Great Strides 2013 Kick-Off Party was held on February 28th at the Brazen Fox in White Plains. The room was packed with over 100 individuals from all over the lower Hudson Valley who enjoyed great food and drink, while mingling with fellow Great Striders. The energy in the room was palpable as Great Strides 2013 - Westchester County Family & Friends Co-Chair, Ron Cole, spoke to the crowd and kept the program rolling.  Jerry Klein, President and CEO of Mahopac National Bank, also took time to speak about the importance of corporate recruitment and sponsorships. Several other Walkers, Team Leaders and YPLC members also shared the limelight, speaking about key Walk and fundraising information. However, once the program ended, the party didn’t stop!  The room continued to be full of life as memories and stories were shared between families and friends.
