Event Highlights - Annual Meeting

On January 24th, the Greater New York Chapter hosted its 2013 Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors.  It was a full house with both new and familiar faces.  After enjoying some refreshments, John A. McKenna, Jr., the Chapter’s new Board President, called the meeting to order. The program began with the ceremonial passing of the gavels—Marc Cassalina, former Board President, passed the crystal gavel to Tim Clark to mark the end of his term as Board President and Tim passed the wooden gavel to John to mark the beginning of his term.  Throughout the evening, Board members reported on the Chapter’s successful events and campaigns and revealed that the Chapter raised an impressive $12.3 Million in 2012!

The Chapter was also grateful to have guest speaker Dr. Allen Dozor, Associate Physician in Chief of the Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College, whom provided a research and CF care center update.  Also joining us were two colleagues from the National CFF Office, Jason Ranville, Assistant Director of State Affairs, whom presented on the importance of advocacy on the federal and state levels, and Peter Knockstead, Senior Director of Fundraising and Development, informing us on the importance of corporate development on the local and national levels.

The evening concluded with an Awards Ceremony, where the Chapter recognized volunteers who were superstars in 2012. A Foundation is only as good as its supporters, and these volunteers have truly gone above and beyond.  Congratulations to the following winners:
