YPLC Update

Young, Talented, and Committed to a Cure

Standing Together, Moving Forward

Across the board, 2013 is an exciting time to be involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and perhaps no one knows that better than the members of the Young Professional Leadership Committee (YPLC).  A renewed YPLC, now in its fourth year, is working to promote awareness and understanding of cystic fibrosis, and raising vital funds for research and, ultimately, a cure.  And although things are changing, we are excited to face the new “tomorrows” of CF head on and with as much NYC style as we can muster!

The pride in our work is well deserved.  In its short existence, the YPLC NYC has already managed to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars toward a cure, bringing in over $120,000 last year with our annual “A Prom to Remember” event alone.  YPLC members also actively engage in discussion on a wide variety of CF issues, work to involve the vibrant New York community in CFF-related activities, and help make a difference in the lives of people with CF and in the mission of the organization.  Meetings are held at least monthly throughout the year, and members have the opportunity to join smaller action teams based on their individual skill sets.  In addition to many other optional events throughout the year, members come together as a group to celebrate at Great Strides walks throughout the Chapter and for our spectacular Prom night, where we show off our skills in the boardroom and on the dance floor – all while taking steps toward a brighter future for this disease.

Currently, the Committee is in the midst of organizing walk teams and fundraising for Great Strides 2013, the CFF’s largest and most important nation-wide event. Look for the special YPLC t-shirts at the event to denote our awesome members!

We are also engaged in the process of outdoing ourselves (um, I mean “planning”) for the 2013 Prom, which will be held on Saturday, October 5th.  More details forthcoming on how you can be a part of this incredible event.

And … the YPLC Westchester/Fairfield is also in the midst of planning its inaugural event, “Cruise to Cure,” which will be held on Saturday, September 28th.

Most importantly, the YPLC is about bringing together people who want to be more involved with the Greater New York Chapter and the fight against CF to help us move forward in the all-important goal of finding a cure.  The Committee is open to all 20- and 30-year-olds willing to join us in that mission.  For more information, or to set up an entrance interview, please contact:
