Volunteer Spotlight

Tom Grotta is a true inspiration to anyone living with cystic fibrosis.

At 6 months old, Tom was diagnosed with “failure to thrive,” but with the strength and support of his family and friends, he has not let cystic fibrosis hold him back. Tom studied at the University of Vermont where he played collegiate lacrosse and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science.

In his early career, Tom worked for Phoenix Integrated, Inc. and Cendant. As internet and technology companies emerged, Tom then worked for Prodigy, EOExchange and FloNetwork/DoubleClick. Tom is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer for InflectionPointMedia.com, an audience targeting platform, which was founded in 2008.

In 2003, Tom transitioned out of corporate America for 2 years and decided to leverage his business and marketing acumen to give something back. He was appointed Executive Director of the Greater New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where he was instrumental in the execution and success of the inaugural Breath of Life Gala which raised over $1.65M in 2004.

Since then, Tom has participated and volunteered at various Foundation events including the Westchester Great Strides Walk, Breath of Life Gala, Spring Fling Gala and Wall Street Charity Golf Classic. This year, Tom was honored with the Breath of Life Award for his outstanding commitment to the CF Foundation at the 10th Annual Breath of Life Gala on November 21st.  Tom is also a past president of the Board of Directors for the CFF Greater New York Chapter and currently serves on the Advisory Board.

Now 45, Tom is married with two beautiful children, Matthew and Lindsey. The family resides in Armonk, NY, where Tom is also the President of the Byram Hills Youth Lacrosse Organization.

Tom, thank you for being a true inspiration and for your dedication to the CF Foundation and its mission.
