Breath of Life Gala

The 13th Annual Breath of Life Gala was held on Thursday, November 17th at Cipriani 42nd Street. The evening began with cocktails and a vast silent auction featuring one of a kind trips, autographed sports memorabilia, gorgeous jewelry, and so much more. The program was opened by Broadway performers Alysha Umphress and Sydney Harcourt, singing beautiful renditions of True Colors and Rise Up.

Lonnie Quinn and Chris Wragge of CBSTV hosted the evening and captivated guests with their contagious energy. This year, the Greater NY Chapter honored Paul W. Whetsell, Vice Chairmen of Loews Hotels & Resorts, and Executive Vice Chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Board of Trustees. We also honored the Columbia Presbyterian Care Center, with Dr. Hossein Sadeghi and Dr. Emily DiMango accepting on the Center’s behalf.

The Bid for a Cure portion of the program was unique with several of the Greater NY Chapter’s younger volunteers taking the stage. Matt, age 17, and Lindsey, age 15, spoke about their dad and how his fight against CF never ceases to inspire them. Katie, age 17, shared the amazing news that her sister recently had a transplant and received a new set of lungs! Melody, age 7, entertained the audience as she described the “dress wars” game she loves to play with her sister who has cystic fibrosis and Jake, age 6, charmed everyone as he spoke about all the medications his sister has to take every day. Last but not least, Stanley, age 13, bantered with Lonnie about the many PSAs he has been a part of over the years.

The evening was a great success raising over $1.6 million! Thank you to all of our corporate and individual sponsors, in-kind donors, and supporters who made the evening a huge success!
